EU Taxonomy: A Make-or-Break Moment?

In the last FT’s Sustainable Views, Baker McKenzie's Eva-Maria Ségur-Cabanac and Adam Farlow call the EU’s new Omnibus simplification package a potential “last chance saloon” for the EU Taxonomy – a last opportunity to fulfil its original mission of mobilising capital for decarbonisation and the environmental transition.

Changes proposed under the simplification package are welcomed but they may trigger data limitation risks. Overall, the key question remains: Will greater alignment lead to lower financing costs?

Ultimately, markets—not regulators—will determine the answer.
