Multinational enterprises (MNEs) face unprecedented tax compliance costs, yet across the globe the rules governing taxation continue to churn, making it ever more difficult for companies to comply. In this article, we look at the progress the Treasury and the IRS (collectively, Treasury) have made during the first year of the second Trump administration to provide MNEs with much-needed US tax guidance. In doing so, we refer to recent statements made by Kevin Salinger, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy, before the DC Tax Bar and New York State Bar Association (NYSBA).
