Description

The Technical Advisor/Patent Agent will provide high quality specialist support on IP matters with a particular focus on assisting with patent drafting and prosecution on behalf of the Firm's clients.  This is a great opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in patent law.  While the position is based in Tampa, the candidate will be required to train for a few months at Baker McKenzie, Dallas.

We are looking for someone who has a very strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to liaise with people at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibility will be to support the Firm's Global IP practice on a range of matters including aspects of the following:

  • Assisting with preparation of patent applications and responses to Official Actions from Patent Offices around the world
  • Assisting with preparation of client reporting emails
  • Assisting with docket and deadline management and other patent-related tasks as required from time to time

Skills and Experience:

Essential criteria:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related science
  • Strong academic background with excellent written and oral communication skills

Technical and personal skills:

  • Some patent preparation and prosecution experience is preferred though not required
  • Strong academic background
