To support the Legal and Business Research teams to deliver research and library services within the context of the Firm's Information and Research strategy; support the Information Product Management team and assist with contract and supplier management; assist with research enquiries and identify relevant resources; provide manual and operational assistance for the global Research and IPM teams as required (e.g. invoice management, access and licencing enquiries, supplier contract management and enquiries, etc.)
Main Responsibilities:

Knowledge & Expertise

  • Understand and promote the role, services and functionality of the Firm's Legal and Business Research, and Information Product Management, teams
  • Assist with the management of, and enquiries about, the Firm's information and research products, within the guidelines set by the Information Product Management team (e.g. access and licensing enquiries, renewals, processing invoices, trials, location, usage data, etc.)
  • Assist with the management of, and enquiries about, the Firm's research services and resources, at the direction of the Legal and Business Research teams (e.g. allocated research tasks, resource assessment and location, sourcing usage data, etc.)
  • Ensure timely response to enquiries from the IPM, Legal and Business Research teams, and from In-Market Research Librarians or other Professional & Business Services staff
  • Demonstrate ongoing learning and professional accountability that cultivates communication and collaboration, fostering immediate and long-term goals
  • Apply industry thinking, expertise, initiative and experience when responding to information and research enquiries

People Management

  • Collaborative, supportive, team player working with the Legal and Business Research, and IPM, teams, In-Market Librarians and the wider Information & Research and Knowledge communities

Work Management

  • Support and participate in the adoption and use of Knowledge and I&R systems
  • Participate in projects as requested
  • Be aware of and participate in Firm's and Knowledge group's goals\

About The Team


The Knowledge function is a Firm-wide team of nearly 300 professionals, including Knowledge Lawyers, Information & Research professionals, and a variety of other functional specialists. The Knowledge function helps the Firm deliver better legal solutions by producing and providing easy access to high quality, relevant legal information for both lawyers and clients. The focus is on the following areas:

  • Content - creating, collecting and providing access to market-leading precedents, sample documents, practice notes, training materials and other knowhow for our lawyers and clients, reviewing and updating regularly, to ensure that the content is current and market-leading 
  • Systems - working with the Technology function to design, develop and build user-friendly and flexible platforms to store knowhow and deliver it intuitively to lawyers and clients, adopting common systems across all offices and practice/industry groups
  • Culture - striving to establish Knowledge as a core part of every lawyer's role, engaging actively with all lawyers in the Firm and encouraging them to share their own knowhow and expertise with colleagues as openly as possible; embracing a "one team" culture within the Firm's Knowledge community ensuring that all team members create and develop high quality local content while being aligned with our global strategy and approach

This role will report to the Research Librarian Supervisor.

The key relationships of this role will be with the following:

  • Service Owner, Research and Information Alert services 
  • Legal and Business Research supervisors and team members
  • Information Product supervisors and team members
  • In-Market Research Librarians
  • Knowledge Specialists for Research and Information Alerts and for Information Product Management

  • Other relevant Service Center teams (e.g. Finance, IT, Procurement)

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant undergraduate degree
  • Good relevant experience with strong experience of Knowledge, information and research in professional services environment
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, build strong relationship virtually, communicate effectively, comfortable working in large, complex environment, highly credible and persuasive
  • Strong personal management skills; ability to prioritise own time to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver responses to enquiries in a timely and accurate manner
  • Proven ability to influence, interact and consult with senior leaders, strong collaboration skills and effective stakeholder management
  • Strong communication skills, and highly credible presentation skills
  • Comprehension of a diverse set of knowledge and information resources, and processes
