Description

The Senior Staff Accountant, US will be the PTP liaison and ensure the end-to-end PTP processes are managed efficiently in coordination with the Service Center teams.  This role will assist the In-Market Senior Accounting Manager and the Associate Director of Finance and will work very closely with the Procurement and PTP Service Center teams to identify gaps in internal controls over vendor data management, US Corporate Card Program, client funds disbursements, vendor payments and detect inconsistencies in accounts payable processes. The Senior Accountant is a key contributor to the design and implementation of standardized and streamlined procurement and PTP processes for the US, including the US Corporate Card Program.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Subject matter expert on accounts payable daily and month-end processes/reconciliations
  • Instrumental in the continued transition of PTP transactional tasks from In-Market to Service Centers, which involves identification of such tasks, development of standard operating procedures documentation, provision of training/reference materials, and monitoring of transitioned responsibilities
  • In conjunction with the Tampa Service Center, monitors US Accounts Payable activities such as vendor data management, Chrome River Expenses and invoices, vendor payments, client funds disbursements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments
  • Ensure that the US Credit Card Program is upheld with extremely high levels of compliance, including processes related to expense reimbursements through the Firm's systems and within the agreed SLAs. Guarantees that escalation procedures for non-compliance are enforced consistently.  This role is responsible for developing checklists and audit procedures to monitor compliance with Firm policies
  • Review, suggest, and facilitate implementation of P2P process improvements with guidance from P2P Global Process Owner
  • Participate in the establishment of guidelines and implementation of internal controls over accounts payable activities
  • Assist with the timely filing of the annual US Form 1099-MISC and 1099-MEC; Guarantee accuracy and completeness of information submitted to the IRS
  • Collaborate with Service Center personnel and In-Market staff accountants in the daily accounting activities, monthly and year-end closing of the local and regional ledger, preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all US balance sheet accounts, NAO region P&L variance analyses and in ensuring adherence to agreed SLAs and timelines with a focus on procurement and PTP processes
  • Responsible for the timely completion and accuracy of all US balance sheet reconciliations, as assigned. Ensures that balance sheet reconciliations are prepared correctly, documenting the purpose of the account, types of transactions, and associated inherent risk of the account
  • Investigate and clear balances in the Corporate Card clearing account and other accounts payable clearing accounts
  • Understand and obtain substantiation for all balances in payroll withholding accounts
  • Resolve reconciling items, perform root cause analysis on reconciling items, and suggest solutions to prevent future occurrence
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations 
  • Accounting point of contact for assigned Functional Area Leads
  • Holds regular meetings to go over significant items of concern regarding the expense push reports
  • Responds to accounting inquiries raised by the groups being supported. Provides accounting guidance and training as necessary
  • Assist the Senior Accounting Manager and the Associate Director with:
    • Production of periodic financial reports that comply with generally accepted accounting principles or other financial reporting standards.
    • Documentation of standard operating procedures and streamlining initiatives
    • Preparation of requested schedules for financial statement audits and other compliance audits
    • Preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Provide support to the global tax team, as needed, about the compilation of US tax and statutory items, including sales and use tax.
  • Support Leadership on firm-wide accounting/reporting initiatives and special projects
  • Identify training gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
  • Develop competence within 3 months of appointment.  Proficiency to be demonstrated through measurement to agreed standards
  • Deliver agreed outcomes to agreed timeframes
  • Collaborate constructively with stakeholders and In-Market teammates.  Engagement effectiveness is to be measured by feedback from In-Market stakeholders and Center leaders

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA designation highly preferred
  • Solid experience in Accounting
  • Proven ability to influence, interact, and consult with senior leaders regarding finance processes, guidelines, and compliances
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in operational efficiency and financial accounting
  • Strong management and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to assess risk and take decisive, appropriate actions, especially in case of exception requests
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to standard operating procedures and service level agreements

  • Working proficiency in using MS Office, SAP, or similar ERP software and other Productivity Tools

 

This position is bonus eligible and includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) based on number of hours worked.  The US base compensation for this position is expected to be $90,000 to $105,000 (annually or hourly) if located in an office in the state of Illinois. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
