The Commercial, Data and Intellectual Property Technology group seeks an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our New York office. The Paralegal will be responsible for supporting attorneys on major federal court litigations, in all aspects of case management, including maintaining and organizing large case files (physical and electronic), calculating and docketing deadlines, e-discovery and drafting documents at the direction of a supervising attorney. Familiarity with intellectual property litigation is not required; however, we are interested in candidates who may also have some intellectual property experience.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to deliver high-quality work product and work independently in fast-paced environment, navigating shifting demands and priorities
  • Assist with the preparation of briefs and other court filings, including cite checking, proof-reading, and preparation of tables of contents and authorities
  • Assist in drafting documents, and all aspects of preparation and execution of depositions, court hearings and trials
  •  Research and confirm court dates and filing requirements Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and local court rule
  •  Assist and coordinate on all facets of the litigation process, including e-discovery, document review, and production
  • Organize and maintain litigation documents and evidentiary materials

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years’ experience as litigation paralegal/case manager at NYC law firm (not in-house and not necessarily IP litigation)
  • Knowledge/experience Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and application of the same
  • Really robust federal court litigation experience
  • Experience docketing filings and calculating due dates
  • Experience filing pleadings, briefs etc. via ECF 
  • Experience drafting basic litigation documents, e.g., notice of motions, proposed orders, attorney declarations, certificates of service, shell discovery requests and objections
  • Experience cite checking
  • Experience table of contents and table of authorities for briefs
  •  Westlaw, LEXIS experience
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, responsiveness, can do attitude, does not require supervision from another paralegal
  • Courtroom experience, e.g., motion hearings and preferably some trial experience
  • Strong technology skills, including advanced familiarity with e-discovery platforms including Relativity 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, Outlook, Best Authority, LexisNexis or Westlaw, CompuLaw, Relativity and other e-discovery and case management platforms
  • Proactive, innovative, and results-oriented

This position is bonus eligible and includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) based on number of hours worked.

The US base compensation for this position is expected to be $100,000 - 135,000 annually if located in an office in the state of New York. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
