Description
The HR Generalist will be responsible for a wide range of activities within the HR function including onboarding, performance management, employee records and documentation, compliance, and employee relations.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate new hire background check adjudication and orientation program for attorneys and staff
- Coordinate and process materials relating to HR programs/policies for all employment changes including but not limited to promotions, office transfers, flexible work arrangements, compensation changes, and employment status changes
- Administer leave of absence programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws
- Responsible for payroll review for both exempt and non-exempt employees on a biweekly basis to ensure all changes are captured and processed accurately
- File appropriate compliance reports with regulatory agencies
- Assist with the annual performance review system, including monitoring and ensuring the completion
- Assist HR Manager with coordinating attorney mobility requirements with immigration, tax, and global team
- Assist with offboarding logistics
- Maintain accurate HR records, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and participate in audits of HR processes and data
- Ensure compliance with all local and federal labor laws and with firm policies and procedures
- Remain current on federal and state employment law changes to ensure compliance; respond to EEOC, ADA, workers' compensation, EDD, and unemployment benefits claims
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required with at least five years of broad generalist experience in the area of Human Resources, preferably in a professional services environment
- Knowledge of federal, California state, and local employment laws and HR disciplines
- Well-developed and sophisticated organization, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to relate to and gain the confidence of people at all levels within the organization, as well as an ability to build strong relationships and work in a collaborative environment
- Organized, detail-oriented individual with strong project management skills, and the ability to work on multiple tasks with competing deadlines
- High level of discretion, diplomacy, and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
- Strong technology skills, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- SHRM-CP certification preferred
This position is bonus-eligible and includes medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits based on the number of hours worked. The US base compensation for this position is expected to be $78,000 to $95,000 annually if located in an office in the state of California. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
