Description

The Communications Specialist will enhance and safeguard the Firm’s brand and reputation in the North America Offices (NAO) region more broadly via news and social media outreach, and provide internal communications advice and support for leadership.

Responsibilities:

Communications Planning

  • Recommend approaches to achieve profile raising and internal communications objectives, considering messages, audiences, outlets, content, spokespersons, and other factors
  • Develop projects and creative initiatives to raise the Firm's profile, balancing efforts across earned, owned and paid media approaches

Internal Communications

  • Draft compelling content that engages audiences, advances key strategic messages, differentiates communications, and demonstrates a sophisticated use of language
  • Write and produce monthly regional newsletter, as well as support other internal communications initiatives, including newsletters, videos and blogs, in North America and globally

Media Relations

  • Contribute to media relations efforts in North America, developing press releases, media lists, communications plans and interview preparation materials in support of Firm's profile raising objectives
  • Proactively identify opportunities in the media for the Firm to provide expert commentary
  • Build strong connections with reporters at legal industry media outlets, such as Law360, and business publications
  • Coordinate submissions to media recognition and award opportunities (Note: this role does not work on legal directory submissions, e.g. Chambers, Legal 500)
  • Coordinate placement and promotion of attorney-authored articles

Social Media

  • Support existing content channels, such as Doing Business Globally blog, and develop new platforms as needed
  • Support content sharing and sponsored campaigns on LinkedIn; Develop content and plans for Firm's Twitter and other social media accounts

Skills and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience; a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or Communications is a plus
  • Strong PR, media or communications experience in large and dynamic organizations, preferably in a financial services or professional services environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; a track record of writing about complex subject matter in a compelling way
  • Knowledge of communications systems and processes, including experience with using video, web and email systems
  • Good design instincts and experience in creating visually appealing communications a plus
  • Strong judgment and ability to make well-reasoned independent decisions
  • Self-motivated and independent, able to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Comfortable working across multiple cultures and time zones in a matrix organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including positive attitude and pleasant nature
  • Organized, detailed oriented individual with good project management skills
  • Strong client-service orientation
