Description
Think Opportunity. Think Baker McKenzie.
Since 1949, Baker McKenzie has been different in the way we think, work and behave — like no other firm and few other businesses. Our reach spans more than 70 global offices and our team of 13,000 people, including over 6,500 lawyers and tax professionals, works alongside our clients to drive growth that is both sustainable and inclusive. At Baker McKenzie, everyone has a vital role to play and everyone's voice is important. We pride ourselves on nurturing one high-performing team culture and our commitment is to our people.
We have been ranked among the Top Law Firms for Diversity by Multicultural Law Magazine for 10 consecutive years.
We have been ranked among the Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality by the Human Rights Campaign for 11 consecutive years.
We have consistently been ranked as a Top Firm for Women by multiple publications across the globe.
Baker McKenzie's Summer Associate Program is designed to introduce students to the practice of law and allow you to explore why our Firm may be the right place to begin your career. Our North American offices are organized into five practice groups, and our Summer Associates are given the opportunity to work on a wide range of assignments to explore our practices at the local or regional level. Because we strive to offer a realistic professional experience, we place great importance on providing our Summer Associates with substantive work of the same caliber as performed by the Firm's lawyers. Additionally, every year, our Summer Associates collaborate across offices on a signature pro bono project that provides impactful legal services for vulnerable populations.
The importance we place on our Summer Associate Program cannot be overstated. The Firm is deeply committed to cultivating our lawyers through our highly respected Development Framework, comprehensive regional trainings and valuable mentorship programs. Our social activities and programming provide Summer Associates throughout North America with the structure to establish working relationships (and hopefully, friendships) with members of your Summer Associate class, as well as our Partners and Associates. There are also opportunities to be considered for our ID&E Fellowship or Client Scholars Program in which our Summer Associates are seconded to work in-house with one of the Firm's clients during the summer.
What we look for:
Being a global firm is not only about size or geography. It requires a distinctive way of thinking, working and behaving — as a passionately global and genuinely collaborative firm. Baker McKenzie seeks second-year law students who are committed to excellence, are good problem solvers and who aspire to work on diverse teams. Candidates who are self-starters and skilled at exercising extraordinary communication and sound judgement often excel at our Firm.
To be considered for our 2026 Summer Associate Program, please submit a resume, cover letter and unofficial transcripts (when available) with your application.
For candidates living and working in our California offices only, the weekly salary is $4,326.92.
We will consider for employment all qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories (arrest and conviction records), in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable state and local laws.
