The North America (NA) Diversity and Inclusion Manager, Chicago (D&I Manager) will report to the NA Associate Director, Diversity and Inclusion. The D&I Manager will work closely with the NA Diversity and Inclusion team and the Global D&I team in the implementation of the Firm's diversity and inclusion strategic planning and goals. The D&I Manager will provide leadership and management support and be responsible for planning, managing, developing and implementing diversity and inclusion programs, initiatives and metrics; and advancing the Firm's diversity and inclusion mission and goals.
  • Contribute thought leadership to the development and implementation of innovative methods and ideas to advance and implement diversity and inclusion initiatives throughout the Firm's North America region, to include collaboration with the Firm's North America Diversity and Inclusion Committee
  • Work in partnership with the Global Director, Associate Director and D&I teams to design and implement internal D&I organizational structures (to include metrics, toolkits, templates, databases, technology solutions, etc.) to integrate D&I into the firm's North America Office matrix
  • Provide daily support to the North America Attorney Affinity Groups, to include managing annual budgets and creating periodic reporting
  • Manage and implement diversity awareness education programming, workshops, seminars and retreats
    Lead large and small scale D&I events
  • Manage and respond to diversity surveys and client requests, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of information; design and develop business reports
  • Work with clients to implement diversity related programs and partnerships
  • Compile, analyze and maintain internal and external D&I related data and metrics; own and maintain D&I dashboards to assess efficiency and effectiveness of D&I initiatives and strategies
  • Conduct internal and external research, to include research related to racial/cultural, gender and LGBT issues
  • Collaborate with the firm's business service departments, to include communications/marketing, talent management, leadership and learning, finance and business development teams
  • Supervise the work of resources engaged on D&I initiatives
  • Build relationships with lawyers and business service professionals at the firm, internal diversity leaders, diversity professionals at peer firms, leaders of diversity organizations and bar-associations, and diversity professionals at clients
  • Monitor external diversity best practices, attend and speak at diversity conferences and on diversity panels, and facilitate relationships between individuals at the firm and leading diversity organizations
  • Perform such other duties as assigned or requested
  • Some travel, primarily within North America, required

Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctorate or Master's degree a plus
  • Strong diversity and inclusion experience, preferably in a professional services company
  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management and strategic planning
  • Strong organization skills, including setting priorities, structuring project deliverable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent judgment and problem solving skills
  • Ability to perform data analysis
  • Experience in marketing and event planning a plus
  • High level of discretion, diplomacy and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and general databases
