Position Responsibilities/Qualifications: 

  • Coordinate and oversee file management for immigration cases and act as primary point of contact for clients with respect to applications and case management
  • Communicate with HR representatives, client employees and other managers to collection documentation and drive application preparation and filing
  • Research and review immigration policies/regulation changes, processing requirements for various application processes
  • Draft application forms and legal submissions for review by the supervising lawyer and make revisions where necessary
  • Assist with eligibility and strategy assessments for various immigration categories, including NOC assessments and temporary and permanent relocation strategies 
  • Communicate with supervising lawyer to discuss client questions and relay information back to client in commercial style
  • Assist lawyer to communicate with relevant immigration authorities throughout application process 
  • Participate in immigration team activities and projects
  • Manage expectations of lawyers by prioritizing workload and keeping lines of communication open

Required Skills (Candidate must meet the following criteria in order to be considered):

  • Bachelor degree or college diploma an asset
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Canadian Immigration experience, ideally within corporate immigration practice, working and communicating directly with corporate clients
  • Knowledge of current immigration practices and procedures is essential 
  • Good problem solving skills and ability to contribute to complex legal analysis under the supervision of lawyer 
  • Excellent communication skills in English is essential, both writing and verbal; French language skills are an asset but not required
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills to manage high-volume case load while conducting work within established timelines 
  • Able to work under pressure to ensure that an urgent situation is resolved or that an application is filed
  • Attention-to-detail and time management skills are critical
  • Accountable, self-directed, and pro-active approach to file work 
  • Comfortable working closely with other team members and delegating administrative tasks when applicable
  • Team player who strives to promote efficiency and continue education in changing legal landscape
