Description
The English Language Editor will support the Firm's practicing offices and Knowledge function on a global basis, by ensuring that internal and client-facing documents are reviewed thoroughly for grammar, spelling, style, syntax, and readability in accordance with the Firm's style guides and expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide efficient and thorough document checking, proofreading, and copy editing services in accordance with client requirements
- Compare multiple versions of documents to provide a summary of differences
- Prepare dossiers on clients and industry contacts using standard Firm templates
- Coordinate workflow in accordance with client requirements and other service departments
- Prioritise workload deadlines to ensure efficient and effective workflow throughout the department
- Ensure time is recorded accurately on automated time-recording software
- Support the Firm's Knowledge function globally by undertaking a first edit of legal publications such as newsletters and multijurisdictional handbooks
- Adopt a right-first-time approach to quality and customer care
- Conduct peer reviews and provide coaching as necessary
- Assist senior editors and team leads in service improvement projects
Skills and Experience:
- Graduate (2:1 or above) with a relevant degree
- Experience working in an office-based environment (legal environment advantageous)
- Experience working in a legal, financial, or similar professional services team
- Experience/Understanding of effective workflow management
- Experience working on intricate documents in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to review, analyze, and organize documentary and factual evidence
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues from various different cultures and levels of the organization
- Excellent attention to detail
- Aptitude for learning (and becoming proficient in) the use of software and IT applications, and using search terms intelligently to navigate large databases/document management systems
- Ability to demonstrate excellent client service skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication
