Description

The Cash Application Supervisor will oversee cash application services for the global centers of Baker McKenzie. Ensure that cash is being applied timely, accurately, and in accordance with Firm guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the cash management teams with regard to the allocation of cash against invoices and the timely clearing of suspense account
  • Oversee process all cash receipts in accordance with Firm policies, guidelines, and standard processes
  • Provide guidance to the team to ensure daily download from the Bank of all cash receipt payments to track and reduce reconciling items using a standardized global process
  • Identify and implement process improvements for the daily cash posting process
  • Coordinate with project teams to implement cash automation technology such as lockbox, bank upload, and AI solutions
  • Develop a plan to consolidate GL cash transfers between offices and train teams across the centers on new processes
  • Introduce cash controls in the centers and promote best practices by creating a centralized repository for incoming remittance information
  • Promoting teamwork and communication amongst all cash application teams in the offices and center
  • Engage with clients as needed to ensure remit information is accurate and submitted for all incoming payments
  • Exercise required a degree of tact and diplomacy when dealing with others and in handling sensitive issues
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, commerce, finance, liberal arts, or related experience
  • Prior experience in a billing, collections, and/or cash application role
  • General understanding of accounting or finance principles as well as the specific law firm or professional service accounting structure, environment, and requirements
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge and experience of financial systems (SAP preferred but not required)
  • Have the confidence to escalate and ask questions, especially when being asked to deviate from standard processes
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced ever-changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands, including learning new skills when required
