Our Corporate group is enjoying an exciting period of growth and success, culminated with two new partner appointments, which will deepen our talent in the ECM, debt capital markets and M&A teams.
We have recently appointed Duncan McGrath, a high-profile, senior debt capital markets lawyer who has joined the Sydney office as partner. Duncan was previously a partner at Gilbert + Tobin, where he established and headed that firm's DCM and securitisation practice. Duncan has a broad practice which includes securitisation, leveraged and general finance, peer-to-peer lending, insolvency and restructuring, blockchain and smart contracts.
We are seeking a Senior Associate with 5-7 years PQE in debt capital markets and securitisation gained in a top tier firm, to add value to our team.
Ideally the candidate comes from a similar top tier firm environment, where they have developed strong technical, drafting and commercial skills. They should have a strong client service ethic, initiative and drive, and work well as part of a team. A strong academic background is essential, in addition to:
- High work standards
- Ability to develop strong relationships with clients and to take responsibility for this relationship
- Strong service orientation
- Good communication skills
The exceptional work of our Corporate group has been recognised through the achievement of numerous leading awards. Baker McKenzie's Capital Markets team was rated the #1 legal team in the Australian market (for both issuers and lead managers) by Thomson Reuters in 2016 and Q1 of 2017. In Q1 of 2017, the firm also topped the Thomson Reuters Australian League tables for M&A (by deal value) and was ranked #2 by deal volume.
Thomson Reuters also ranked Baker McKenzie #1 for M&A in Asia Pacific in 2016 for the seventh consecutive year. In 2017 ACRITAS ranked Baker McKenzie the #1 global law firm brand, for the eighth consecutive year, and the #1 law firm brand in Asia Pacific.
