The Senior Manager, Editorial Studio will co-develop a new Editorial Strategy in collaboration with the Strategy & Campaign Planning Associate Director. In addition, the role will be responsible for the management and development of the new Editorial Studio, one of four central Studios, to provide expert editorial and copywriting services for the global business.
The role holder will be a strong leader, enabler and collaborator, experienced in managing and motivating a team of editors and copywriters across multiple geographies to produce excellent editorial support and content.
Strategy & Advisory
  • Co-developing and implementating a new Editorial Strategy, with clear vision, goals and measureable targets
  • Internal promotion of the new function to drive traffic to the Editorial Studio
  • Acting as an advisor to the business on the best way to achieve editorial excellence in relation to audience, channels and messaging
  • Taking personal responsibility for creating and drafting or editing editorial content, as required
  • Ensuring that the highest level of editorial excellence is applied to each and every project
  • Developing competitor and market awareness to feed into strategy
  • Openly suggesting ideas for further innovations and proactively seeking to continually improve the offering
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
  • Working seamlessly with the Strategy & Campaign Planning Associate Director, to provide editorial and copywriting services and to define key messages, positioning and themes 
  • Building close working relationships with key stakeholders across the Business Development, Marketing and Communications community and wider business
  • Providing editorial support services to the Global Client Pursuits team in the development of pitch content for the Firm’s Key Clients
  • Forming strong relationships with the Business Development Directors to support them in their varied written engagements with clients
  • Working closely with the Campaigns and Content Management team, to provide editorial support with a range of marketing content, including thought leadership, blogs, capability statements, case studies, podcasts, webinars, whitepapers, etc.
  • Collaborating with the Digital Studio and Social Media teams to enhance the quality of written content online and increase organic traffic through SEO techniques
  • Innovating with the use of infographics to enhance content and messaging
  • Supporting the Media Relations team to ‘polish’ key corporate communications and the Internal Communications team with ad hoc requests for copywriting and editorial support
  • Participating in internal events and discussions to galvanise interest and engagement with the Editorial Studio
  • Continually defining ways to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships
People Management
  • Building and resourcing a diverse and talented Editorial Studio team, with the right mix of skills, experience and expertise
  • Setting clear objectives for each team member and scheduling, evaluating and coaching the team, as required
  • Providing positive feedback and encouragement to the whole team, effectively managing and collaborating on any issues that may arise and providing lasting solutions to strengthen the team
  • Assigning and managing workload through the IT platform ServiceNow to monitor and report on utilisation and client satisfaction
Processes and Quality Control
  • Along with the team, be an arbiter of best practices in grammar, messaging, editing, copywriting and style
  • Taking personal responsibility and accountability for the quality of copywriting and editing being delivered by the Studio
  • Delivering new high quality control processes for all outputs and ensuring all content is compliant and is aligned to the Firm’s brand guidelines
  • Proactively establish new and improved processes for workflow for requesting, creating, editing and publishing 
  • Developing standards, systems and best practice for communication, distribution, maintenance, retrieval and content repurposing
Budget & Reporting
  • Managing the Editorial Studio budget, costs for staff, commissioning and production
  • Managing freelance support, if required
  • Setting and monitoring strategy and KPIs in collaboration with the Global Campaigns and Content Management Associate Director
  • Providing monthly reports on progress, KPI successes and budgets
The ideal candidate
  • Demonstrable experience heading an editorial team within the B2B market
  • Proven editorial skills with extensive business writing; a flair for strong technical writing and content development in written, video and digital formats
  • An outstanding command of the English Language; flawless attention to detail and excellent presentation and creative skills
  • Dynamic, insightful and influential and able to operate at strategic and operational levels
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with an ability to effectively balance different viewpoints, priorities and expectations
  • Pro-active, confident and hands-on approach
  • Strong project management skills to coordinate editorial schedules, multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • International experience in multicultural organizations

Skills and Experience:
  • Graduate degree in Journalism, English Language / Literature or related discipline
  • An editorial expert, with significant experience operating at a senior level within a high profile, dynamic and fast-moving organisation, ideally in professional services
  • Strong experience operating as a manager. Experience of managing people across geographies highly desirable
  • A proven track record of defining and successfully implementing engaging and outstanding editorial strategies 
  • Understanding of digital marketing tools, social media, analytics and content distribution systems
