Description
The Intercompany Accountant - Contract (10 Months) will assist the Senior Manager & Manager in ensuring reliable records are kept. The role-holder will manage on a day-to-day basis the accounting for all inter firm invoicing and payment transactions processed via Baker & McKenzie International BV (BMI BV).
Main responsibilities:
- Manage on a continuous basis the BMIBILL box for all emails relating to interfirm billings and payments
- Review all invoices received from member firms to ensure they are correct and tax compliant
- Review and process when correct all member firm payment transmittal and request forms and update banking records and ledgers accordingly
- Review on a weekly basis the Daily Transaction Sheet and follow up on any outstanding payments and transmittals that have not been paid/received
- Ensure that bank accounts that relate to Inter Firm loans, local vendor payments & other US bank accounts are kept up to date at all times in SAP
- Reconcile IF Loan accounts globally on a monthly basis
- Monitor various profit and loss and balance sheet accounts including inter firm suspense accounts and ensure these reconcile at all times
- Assist the Manager and Senior Manager on other tasks as required including annual audit tasks
Skills and experience:
- A bachelor’s degree (minimum MBO level) is preferred
- Strong experience in accounting, with a solid understanding developed over at least three years
- General knowledge of VAT
- Able to demonstrate in‑depth knowledge of SAP and a strong curiosity about how accounting systems function and can be optimized
- Able to think creatively and propose solutions outside conventional approaches
- Proficient in Excel
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
- High level of attention to detail, with strong organizational skills
- Service‑minded approach and commitment to delivering high‑quality work
- Can demonstrate personal responsibility, dependability, and a drive for excellence in meeting deadlines
- Flexible and professional attitude
- Hands‑on mentality and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
