The Director of Practice Management - Corporate will define and execute strategy globally for the Global Corporate Practice Groups (M&A, Private Equity and Capital Markets), maintaining consistency with the overall strategy of the Firm.


  • Advise Global Practice Group Chairs and Steering Committees on strategic and business-related topics
  • Formulate and operationalize strategic initiatives leveraging our geographic, industry and client reach, with a clear view to building market presence and generating revenue
  • Develop, update and monitor the business plan of the practices and manage budget proactively
  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators to seek improvements of operational and financial performance
  • Develop and update, in coordination with regional teams and other practice groups, strategies for the main service lines, identifying opportunities for efficiency, improvement and innovation
  • Facilitate discussions and meetings of the Global Steering Committees
  • Ensure appropriate training of practice group members, leveraging support from other Professional & Business Services (PBS) functions
  • Coordinate internal Practice Groups engagement activities, fostering positive and open communication
  • Coordinate interactions with Global Industry Groups making sure that service offering is relevant and customized to clients in those sectors
  • Coordinate resources from other PBS functions giving support to the same Practice Groups to ensure proper coverage
  • Leverage services provided by shared Service Centers and specialist functions within the PBS organization to drive excellence and efficiency
  • Lead and participate in global projects for the practices and for the Firm
  • Work in tandem with the Director of PM in Finance (Banking & Finance, EMI) to align strategies across all transactional groups

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant undergraduate degree required; an MBA is strongly preferred
  • Extensive experience of professional management experience in a global setting, ideally in a professional services environment
  • Proficiency in law firm operations, legal accounting and finance
  • Strong understanding of law firm profitability at practice group, service line, client, matter and attorney level
  • Strong business sense and good judgment in problem-solving
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective communication at all organizational levels
  • Experience with business management, including an understanding of the challenges of operating in different markets globally
  • Ability to manage multiple complex operations with continual attention to detail (including accuracy with numbers)
  • Experience conducting complex qualitative and quantitative analysis, interpreting results and suggesting action plans
  • Experience coordinating people in different locations and cultures
  • Ability to work effectively in informal teams and collaborate cross practice and cross function in a global organisation
  • Proficiency in using MS Office applications, including PowerPoint and advanced functions of Excel
