The Opportunity:
The Data Privacy Specialist will act in a support role to the Global Data Privacy Counsel and Data Privacy Manager within the Firm's Global Data Privacy Team. The Global Data Privacy Team within the Office of General Counsel is responsible for coordinating the Firm's global data privacy compliance program and supports the Baker McKenzie member firms and affiliates across the globe on all aspects of data privacy compliance.

About the role:
As part of this role, the successful candidate will:
Responsibilities:
- Review and amend data privacy terms proposed by clients
- Complete client data privacy questionnaires and transfer impact assessments
- Review and amend data processing agreements with vendors
- Perform Data Privacy Impact Assessments in respect of new initiatives and technologies
- Conduct multi-jurisdictional surveys on data privacy topics
- Assist with the development and updating of data privacy notices and policies
- Develop and enhance global data privacy policies and procedures
- Develop template documents, guidelines, and procedures to help streamline and standardize data privacy compliance throughout the member firms and affiliates
- Assist with intra-group data transfer arrangements and related contracts
- Assist with Data Subject Access Requests and similar data subject rights
- Liaise with the Firm's Global Data Privacy Working Group, and other Firm bodies as needed, including:
- arranging meetings, preparing agendas, and circulating minutes/action items
- Monitor correspondence received in the Firm's general data privacy inbox
- Maintain a repository for data privacy compliance records
- Provision of training to relevant business units
- Support the work of a legal professional within the team
Experience Required
Essential Criteria:
To be successful in this role you will need:
Skills and Experience:
- Law Degree – Minimum 2:1
- Would suit a newly qualified solicitor or legal professional with prior legal work experience
- Data privacy experience is preferred but not essential provided the candidate has a strong interest in developing expertise in this area
- Advanced in Microsoft Office applications (Intermediate Excel and Word is essential)
- Strong technical skills (experience of SharePoint an advantage)
- A positive team member and active contributor in a team environment
- Excellent organisational, prioritisation and problem solving skills
- Confidence to liaise with people at all levels of the firm
- Exceptional attention to detail is a must
- Manages multiple work tasks, prioritizes time and meets deadlines and proposes solutions where conflicts exist
