Baker McKenzie.Wong & Leow is currently looking for a Talent Executive (Human Resources Executive). The individual will be responsible for maintaining the Singapore office talent management administrative policies, programs, and practices; assist with the execution of local office talent management strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the Firm in the areas of recruitment and selection; compensation; employee development; performance management; and employee relations.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Singapore office Talent Management team and play an essential role in assisting to deliver policies and programs that support the Firm's overall business objectives. They will also interact with Practice Group Leaders and Functional Leaders in the office and throughout the JAO, as necessary, to administer plans related to legal and business professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, and standards
  • Respond to employee requests and questions and escalate as needed
  • Assist with the relevant annual compensation review process
  • Assist with the preparation and support of the performance review process for legal and business professionals
  • Assist with legal and business professional recruitment; carry out approval process as required, execute relevant recruitment activities, track status of candidates and assist in the delivery of a best-in-class recruitment process and candidate experience
  • Assist with the analysis of trends and metrics in partnership with the JAO and Singapore TM teams to develop solutions, programs and policies
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success
  • Assist in employee terminations and partner departures as required, ensuring compliance with Firm standards
  • Assist with any special projects as needed, including reporting, and local or regional projects
  • Assist in client/inter-office secondments
  • Handle all work pass application, renewals and cancellations
  • Responsible for liaising with insurers with regards to enrolment and termination of members
  • Involved in the HR audit and provide inputs to statutory/labour market surveys
  • Responsible for compiling monthly talent report in terms of attrition rates, headcount, FTE (full time equivalent), number of opening positions and mobility movements for Singapore office
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably focusing on Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Organizational Development, Management, or other related areas; professional human resources certification beneficial
  • Experience in Human Resources, preferably in a professional services firm environment
  • Familiarity of HR functional disciplines (employee relations, staffing, compensation, organizational development, training, and employee development)
  • Knowledge of local office employment laws
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (including Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe or similar)
  • Well-developed and sophisticated organization, writing, quantitative, communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to relate to and gain the confidence of people at all levels within an organization, as well as an ability to build strong relationships and work in a collaborative environment
  • High level of discretion, diplomacy and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
