Description
The Business Development and Marketing Manager, Singapore will work closely with Partners and the Head of Business Development, Marketing and Communications (BDMC) in Singapore to develop and drive Practice Group (PG) revenue‑driven priorities, maximize client retention, and win profitable work in the Singapore office.
The role‑holder will focus on key business development priorities for the Singapore office, including client targeting and outreach, managing and developing business development and marketing materials, coordinating individual Partner business development planning and tracking progress toward established goals, supporting client teams and managing client relationship reviews, preparing and managing submissions for legal directories, enhancing the Firm’s profile, and developing strategies for client events.
The individual will be part of the PG‑aligned BD community and collaborate with all markets, colleagues in specialist teams, Business Managers, and Asia Pacific BDMC colleagues to develop and deliver BD and client initiatives in Singapore.
Main responsibilities:
- Drive the profitable growth of the respective Practice Groups (PGs) in Singapore by supporting the Partners in pursuing new mandates and developing cross-selling opportunities in Singapore and beyond
- Make recommendations on BDMC activities, best practices, progress and return on investment
- Monitor and identify forward-looking issues and trends, and translate their legal impact to clients and lawyers in a commercial way to influence strategy, business plans, and execution
- Lead pitches and pursuits as required, ensuring high-quality delivery for Singapore and cross-border pitches
- Ensure consistency in PG messaging and advise on content as required while collaborating with pitch specialists and colleagues
- Manage directories and submissions for the PG locally, working closely with the Directories Awards & Submissions team and external consultants where applicable
- Support client management initiatives by engaging with priority clients in Singapore and in Southeast Asia, and work with specialist client teams and local teams as needed
- Deliver marketing support by promoting the services and expertise of the PGs through thought leadership content, market-leading events, strategic sponsorships, memberships, associations, and other profile-raising activities
- Work with communications professionals to develop and execute strategies that enhance the PG’s profile through relevant channels, both externally and internally
- Contribute to BDMC infrastructure roll-outs relevant to the PG or function
- Foster a data-driven mindset within the Singapore office by leveraging appropriate tools and working with the analytics team as necessar
- Work with Knowledge Management (KM), Research, Pricing, and other teams as necessary to develop useful research, monitor trends, and apply insights effectively for the PG
- Deliver office and cross-border initiatives and support as necessary
- Perform other duties as required to support the success of the Firm
Skills and experience:
- A bachelor's degree, ideally with additional business‑related qualifications or experience in Business Development, Marketing, Communications, Sales, or related commercial subjects
- Extensive experience in business development, client relationship management within an international law firm or other professional/financial services environment
- Deep business acumen and understanding of strategic and business planning gained through mid-to-senior level business roles, as well as strong financial acumen
- Proven track record of delivering on client relationships and revenues, as well as developing and delivering on metrics
- Leadership experience is preferred, with team management experience
- Able to interact and influence at senior levels of the Firm
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, with strong writing skills
- Able to work effectively in a matrix management across multiple offices and countries, fostering a collegiate and collaborate approach
