Baker McKenzie.Wong & Leow’s Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) practice works with an exciting range of clients focused on the digital economy. The TMT practice’s client base includes a diverse range of Singapore and multinational technology companies as well as financial institutions and government. Many of these clients come to the TMT practice looking for assistance with doing something new. On the regulatory side, the work includes advising on regulatory developments and navigating the regulatory impact for new product offerings and business models. The TMT practice is well known for its expertise advising on data regulation including on how regulations apply to particular activities, proposed changes to data regulations, implementing compliance regimes and dealing with data breach incidents. On the commercial contracting side, the TMT practice maintains a strong reputation in particular for advising and negotiating procurement, outsourcing and cloud computing deals.

Experience Required

We are looking for an experienced lawyer with 1-3 years of post-qualification in complex corporate commercial and technology work. The ideal candidate should be called to the Singapore Bar and has strong contract drafting skills, with particular experience in technology, online businesses and telecommunications projects. A must have is an inquisitive attitude in applying the law to new technologies and business models taking shape as part of the digital economy.

Experience in or supporting corporate M&A/JVs and broader commercial contracting would be an advantage, but not essential. Solid understanding of the TMT industry and key issues faced by businesses in AI, Big Data, Cybersecurity, Distributed Ledger and e-Commerce. Telecommunications, cybersecurity and data privacy advisory expertise is also important.
