About The Role

Baker McKenzie is currently looking for a Senior Manager, Talent Management (Partnership and Careers) to lead a team which designs and delivers a range of partner and career related talent management initiatives for the region.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and facilitate performance evaluations for Local Partners and Principals 
  • Global Leadership Performance Review process for Client Service Directors and Global Steering Committee members 
  • Manage and facilitate the annual Compensation Committee meeting, Management Committee (MC) appeals process and communication of compensation outcomes to Principals 
  • Manage the annual Counsel, Local Partner and Principal nomination and evaluation processes for promotion including facilitating Candidate Evaluation Committee (CEC) and MC determinations 
  • Manage the annual Career Path Assessment nomination and evaluation processes including the completion of 360 feedback surveys and facilitating CEC determinations and presentation of results to Principals
  • Manage the annual Principal Article 11 Third Year review, including facilitating CEC and MC determinations and presentation of results to Principals
  • Manage the annual Principal Article 11 Check-in process for 1st and 2nd year Principals
  • Manage the annual partner and counsel talent pipeline review process including reporting, presenting on Gender GAT progress to the MC and facilitating LIFT nominations and participant bi-annual check-ins 
  • Manage the annual succession planning process and presentation of results to Principals
  • Manage and facilitate the annual regional Local Partner and Principal induction programs
  • Propose and implement talent management frameworks, processes and tools to strengthen the talent pipeline, enhance engagement and/or manage talent risks 
  • Provide support to partners with respect to benefits, contracts, insurance, relocation approvals, retirement processes and any other firm documentation as required 
  • Liaise with the Global Firm, EC Liaisons, People and Leadership & Learning team on matters concerning Principals or Local Partners
  • Create and maintain a work environment consistent with the Firm's principles and values, ensuring high levels of organizational effectiveness and communication and instilling a high performance culture
  • Lead and manage a team, setting high standards and values, and embedding shared values of collaboration, creative thinking and client service across the team, and fostering positive and open communication
  • Other duties as assigned to deliver Firm strategy and operational effectiveness to the region and its partners

About the Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree focusing on Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Organizational Development, Management, or other related areas
  • Extensive experience in HR/Talent management, preferably in a professional services firm environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact and influence at the highest levels of the Firm
  • Strong operational excellence, client service and cost management are a must
  • Highly disciplined approach to executing strategies and programs to achieve Firm operational objectives
  • Well-developed and sophisticated organization, communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate and build trust with partners and business professionals at all levels
  • Strong ability to lead, motivate and mentor other professionals, inclusive of diligently addressing performance concerns
  • Organized, detail-oriented individual with strong project management skills and ability to balance competing priorities in a time-sensitive environment
  • High level of discretion, diplomacy and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality; Strong entrepreneurial skills and business focused mind set to effectively drive operations in a diverse and multi-cultural environment
