Description

This role is crucial to the effective implementation of the Industry Group's plan and adds huge value to the achievement of its business goals. 

The ABDM will be working closely with the Senior BD Manager of the industry group in delivering guidance and support to global and regional business managers, client managers, sector leaders, and partners. 

The ABDM will be heavily involved in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Industry Group's Business Plan throughout the fiscal year. 

The scope of work also includes driving strong IG team engagement, support and implementation of industry projects and initiatives, management and improvement of critical sector processes, infrastructure maintenance, and pitch and events management support.

Key responsibilities include: 

Business Development

  • Assist in development of annual industry business plan with the Senior BD Manager; drive and track implementation of BD and marketing initiatives outlined in the plan
  • Prepare periodic overviews and group financial reports as needed; along with dossiers for leadership strategy meetings
  • Provide BD direction for global Healthcare initiatives 
  • Develop processes for implementing the group's content strategy on internal and external marketing platforms

Client Development

  • Help with the management and coordination of the Healthcare MapApp (content side)
  • Develop and publish newsletters
  • Write and post Sector Blogs
  • Organize and manage webinars on industry hot topics targeted to lawyers and professionals
  • Lead development of thought leadership campaigns 

Event and Meeting Management

  • Help drive and support around the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference, the group's flagship industry event; together with the Senior BD Manager
  • Organize and shape industry group meetings at Firm meetings (Annual Meeting, Americas, EMEA Meeting, AP Meeting)
  • Increase engagement between the Global Healthcare Steering Committee and Healthcare IKC by arranging calls, providing Healthcare IKC guidance on business plan development and oversight on client development activities

Pitch Support

  • Develop materials for use in pitches, including  group overview, capability statements, description of services offered, list of top deals, key client list, awards and rankings summary, and lawyer CVs
  • Provide information and support for multi-group proposals and major multi-regional pitch activities

Infrastructure Support

  • Manage the group’s Workplace page to ensure regular Healthcare community engagement
  • Ensure that Healthcare-related pages on bakermckenzie.com are regularly updated. Review bakermckenzie.com content
  • Assist with the group's internal podcast together with Senior BD Coordinator

Team Management

  • Provide management support and leadership guidance to Senior BD Coordinator for Healthcare
  • Work with Senior BD Coordinator for Healthcare on delivering strategic support to the group's projects and initiatives

Experience Required

  • Strong understanding of BD and marketing practices and Firm systems and tools

  • Excellent relationship management and follow-up skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a track record in project initiation, planning, execution, tracking and control
  • Experience in developing and managing cross-functional teams, and highly-adept in managing people, infrastructure and other resources
  • Highly-proficient in Microsoft office applications including but not limited to Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Superior oral and written communication skills

Education and Experience

  • Business, Marketing or related degree
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in a business development role or corporate marketing environment
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience working in an international organization a plus
  • Prior experience working in a virtual team setting preferred but not required
