The Role

We are currently looking for a senior public M&A lawyer to join our Transactional Practice Group in Sydney to work on a variety of transactions across a range of industries.

The Team

Baker McKenzie's Transactional Practice Group is at the forefront of providing commercially astute advice to major Australian and global companies. We are particularly well known for our high-end mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and private equity practices. Our areas of experience include corporate governance and compliance, corporate advisory, due diligence, foreign investment, hostile and recommended takeover bids, joint ventures and alliances, privatisation/corporatisations, public/private partnerships, as well as spin-offs, demergers and stock exchange listings. Qualifications & Experience

Our ideal candidate would have:

  • minimum 5 years' experience in a top-tier firm or leading financial services institution;
  • experience in capital raisings, initial public offerings, underwriting as well as corporate advisory;
  • a solid understanding of public M&A and corporate transactions, such as takeovers, mergers, reconstructions, acquisitions and divestments;
  • a strong client service orientation;
  • strong technical, drafting and commercial skills;
  • business development aptitude, interest, and experience;
  • relevant legal qualifications;
  • a strong academic background;
  • excellent analytical, communication, and research skills;
  • a commitment to high work standards and strong attention to detail;
  • an ability to demonstrate initiative and proactivity;
  • an ability to develop strong relationships with clients and to take responsibility for this relationship;
  • an ability to work well in a team environment (including across Australian offices and internationally);
  • a willingness to learn; and
  • a willingness to develop others through mentoring and sharing experiences.
