The Team

The Firm’s People function has responsibility for recruiting, supporting and developing all of the Firm’s people, including our Partners, Lawyers and Professional & Business Services, working closely with the Firm’s leadership to design and deliver the Firm’s people strategy, building on the Firm’s core commitments to collaboration, excellence and inclusivity.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership and management on the diversity & inclusion (D&I) function in the Asia Pacific (AP) region, with a particular focus on Australia. The manager role will support and be responsible for planning, managing, developing and implementing the Firm's D&I strategy, initiatives, metrics and policies in the AP region. This position will collaborate closely with the Australian office Diversity & Inclusion Committee, other Diversity and Inclusion Committees in the AP region, local leadership and business services teams in the region to advance diversity and inclusion goals. The key elements to the Firm's current D&I strategy are gender equality, parents and carers, mental health & wellbeing, mainstreaming flexibility, culture/ ethnicity and LGBTI inclusion.

The D&I Manager will also collaborate with colleagues across the Firm's network on global programs such as BakerWellbeing and regional/AP discussions and projects.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree required (e.g. HR, Psychology, Law Degree or Masters degree a plus). 
  • Demonstrated interest and passion for the field of diversity and inclusion 
  • Minimum of three years of diversity and inclusion experience, preferably in a large law firm. 
  • Self motivated; ability to work independently. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management and strategic planning. 
  • Strong organization skills, including setting priorities, structuring project deliverables, and ability to manage multiple priorities 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, excellent presentation skills. 
  • Excellent judgment and problem solving skills. 
  • Strong computer literacy, including PowerPoint
