Biography

With over 24 years of experience in arbitration, civil, commercial, and administrative litigation, and technology disputes, Christian focuses on complex dispute resolution, legal risk management, negotiation, and crisis management. He holds leadership roles in national and international legal organizations, including co-vice chair of the Mexico Committee of the International Law Section of the ABA and coordinator of the Legal Tech Commission of the Ilustre y Nacional Colegio de Abogados de México. He is also an author in specialized publications, a graduate-level professor, and a frequent speaker on legal and technology topics.

Practice Focus

Christian's practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, domestic and international arbitration, mediation, and technology disputes, advising corporations, financial institutions, investment funds, and high-profile individuals in Mexico and across cross-border jurisdictions. He handles complex matters involving financial recovery, corporate conflicts, freedom of expression, and discrimination. He has represented clients before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) in landmark cases, including the first ruling in Mexican legal history recognizing criminal corporate liability for discriminatory conduct. He serves as strategic advisor to boards of directors and leads multidisciplinary legal teams across multiple jurisdictions.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Represented an individual in a matter in which, in one aspect, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation ruled against an international financial institution, issuing Mexico’s first decision recognizing corporate criminal liability for employment discrimination.
  • Defended a journalist in defamation and moral damages proceedings brought by a family member of a former President of Mexico, contributing to the protection of press freedom and journalistic immunity.
  • Advised various committees of the Congress of the Union on legal aspects of freedom of expression, contributing to legislative analysis and regulatory proposals.
  • Represented an international investment fund in commercial recovery proceedings before Mexican federal courts, coordinating parallel litigation strategy across multiple judicial instances. 
  • Advised a domestic investment fund in financial recovery proceedings against high-profile debtors, managing concurrent litigation and parallel regulatory actions.
  • Represented a global technology company in a dispute against a Mexican counterparty involving contractual liability claims and data-related issues under Mexican and international law, providing ongoing advisory support.
  • Served as mediator in a multiparty shareholder dispute within a Mexican holding company, achieving an out-of-court resolution that avoided protracted litigation.
  • Represented parties in domestic and international commercial arbitrations under ICC Rules, coordinating procedural strategy, expert witnesses, and recognition and enforcement proceedings.
