Biography

Jim Vrijaldenhoven is a senior associate in the Employment & Compensation Practice Group of Baker McKenzie's Amsterdam office, where he advises on a wide range of employment law matters. He is a member of the Global Employment & Compensation Practice Group. In 2025–2026, he was seconded to the Firm’s Chicago and San Francisco offices, where he was part of the Global Employment and Labor Law (GELL) team and advised on global employment issues in the context of workforce expansions, complex cross-border transactions and corporate reorganizations. Jim is recognized as a 2026 Key Lawyer for the Employment Group by Legal 500, with clients noting that he “has solid and deep functional knowledge and immediately adapts his advice to our company.”

Practice Focus

Jim mainly assists human resources departments of multinational clients as well as the boards of small and medium-sized enterprises on a range of employment law matters. He provides legal support to clients going through collective dismissals, Works Council-related issues and (de)merger activities, among others. Jim also advises on cases relating to investigations, illness, poor performance files and dismissal cases.

Corporate Responsibility

Jim is a board member of Stichting FORWARD, a foundation focused on promoting the acceptance, recognition, and visibility of LGBTQIA+ individuals within the Dutch legal sector.
