Biography

Jieun Tak is a member of Baker McKenzie’s North American Transactional Group and is based in New York.

Jieun began her legal career as a summer associate in the Firm’s New York office. Prior to law school, she was the Assistant to the Chilean Ambassador to the United States.

Practice Focus

Jieun advises clients on transactional matters, with emphasis on cross-border acquisitions and divestitures, corporate reorganizations and integrations, and other strategic transactions.

  • Advised Sika AG on its approximately USD 6 billion acquisition of MBCC Group and the related remedy divestiture and carve-out.

  • Advised Sika Corporation on the acquisitions of United Gilsonite Laboratories and American Hydrotech.

  • Advised Bayer AG on its acquisition of Vividion Therapeutics, Inc. for USD 2 billion.

  • Advised Bayer AG on its acquisition of Asklepios BioPharmaceutical, Inc. for USD 4 billion.

  • Advised Unilever PLC on the acquisitions of Paula’s Choice, Onnit, The Laundress, Hourglass Cosmetics and Living Proof.

  • Advised The Nielsen Company on its sale to a private equity consortium led by Elliott Management and Brookfield for USD 16 billion.

  • Advised The Nielsen Company on its divestiture of Nielsen IQ to Advent International for USD 2.7 billion.

  • Advised The Nielsen Company on its acquisition of Gracenote for USD 560 million.

  • Advised The Nielsen Company on the divestiture of its music data business and on the acquisition of SuperData Research.

  • Advised Spectrum Brands, Inc. on its global carve-out and divestiture of Rayovac to Energizer for USD 2 billion.
