Biography

Jieun Tak is a partner in Baker McKenzie’s New York office, where she began her legal career as a summer associate. She advises clients on complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions. Prior to law school, she was the Assistant to the Chilean Ambassador to the United States.

Practice Focus

Jieun advises clients on transactional matters, with emphasis on cross-border acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, corporate reorganizations and integrations, and other strategic transactions. She regularly represents clients across the life sciences, consumer goods, industrials and tech sectors in complex, multijurisdictional deals.

  • Advised Unilever PLC on the acquisitions of Paula’s Choice, Onnit, The Laundress, Hourglass Cosmetics and Living Proof.
  • Advised Sika AG on its approximately USD 6 billion acquisition of MBCC Group and the related remedy divestiture and carve-out.
  • Advised The Nielsen Company on its sale to a private equity consortium led by Elliott Management and Brookfield for USD 16 billion.
  • Advised The Nielsen Company on its divestiture of Nielsen IQ to Advent International for USD 2.7 billion.
