Practice Focus
Júlia specializes in Spanish and EU Competition Law, with deep expertise in regulated sectors such as telecom, energy, transport, or pharmaceuticals. She advises both private companies and public entities on antitrust infringement proceedings, compliance programs, preventive counseling, damage claims, merger control, foreign direct investment and state aid.
In addition, Júlia has experience in public procurement, administrative compliance, licensing regimes, environmental law, and product regulation.
Representative Legal Matters
- Advised leading clients in different sectors on the design and implementation of their competition compliance programmes, including compliance training to company employees.
- Advised and represented an automotive sector client in follow-on damages claims in connection with the fine imposed by the Spanish Competition Authority in the so-called "Vehicles Cartel".
- Advising consumer goods companies on distribution agreements, including on risks arising in respect of resale price maintenance, territorial restrictions and online sales.
- Advised a major automotive manufacturer in merger control proceedings before the European Commission in relation to the acquisition of a major rival.
- Advised a major international airline company in merger control proceedings before the European Commission in relation to the merger with a major international rival.
- Advised a major energy company in merger control proceedings before the European Commission in relation to the acquisition of a major rival.
- Advised clients in major international cartel investigations by the European Commission, including Air Cargo Carriers, Prestressing Steel, Wire Harnesses, Power Cables, Steel Abrasives, Professional Videotape.
- Advised leading Spanish clients before the European Court of Justice in relation to a Spanish tax scheme that allowed amortization of financial goodwill in acquisitions of shareholdings in foreign companies and was declared illegal State Aid by the Commission.

Corporate Responsibility
From the beginning, we in Baker & McKenzie have participated in different Corporate Social Responsibility programs. The most recent, coinciding with our 25th anniversary in Barcelona, is the pro bono advice agreement with the Sant Joan de Déu Charitable Organization.
Other outstanding projects are the agreement to create and advise the Liceu Barcelona Opera House US Foundation and regular contributions to the Food Bank.
