Biography

Marie has been a member of the Firm since 2016 and she is part of the practice groups of Corporate Law (M&A/PE), and Banking & Finance. She is a member of the Firm’s Sustainability Committee.

She has been recognized as a B-Green Local Champion and an Innovation Local Champion by the Firm.

Practice Focus

Marie has assisted national and international clients in cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions as well as the implementation of investment structures. She has participated in specific local transactions such as real estate acquisitions, wholesale transactions and sale of assets. She has also conducted corporate, securities, banking law and exchange regulation research, as well as due diligence on corporate issues. She has experience in exchange control regulations as they apply to international transactions and operations. She has actively participated in global reorganization projects of major companies involving Venezuela. In addition, Marie has broad knowledge and experience with incorporation, dissolution and liquidation of legal entities. She is also engaged in IT and blockchain technology law issues.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advised Grupo UMA, S.A. with the regulatory approvals needed in Venezuela for the import of motorcycles from Colombia. Grupo UMA is the merger of two business groups from Central America and the Caribbean with more than 50 years of experience in different sectors such as energy, automobiles, among others, with presence in a number of countries in the Latin American and Caribbean regions.

Firm Committee Memberships

  • Marie is a member of the Sustainability Committee of the Caracas Office since 2016. She is currently in charge of (i) preparing monthly newsletters regarding the office's local sustainability/recycling initiatives; and (ii) coordinating all CSR matters of the Firm locally. She is acknowledged by the Firm as B-Green champion for the Local office.
  • Marie is part of the pilot program of the Firm "Innovation Ambassador Program" and recognized by the Firm as an Innovation Local Champion, which has the task of speak about the Firm's innovation strategy both internally and with clients, and lead and guide others in the innovation activities of the Firm. In the internal "Reinvent Challenge" Marie with her team was finalist representing LATAM Region.
