Biography

María José Martín is team leader in Baker McKenzie’s Employment & Compensation Department in Madrid.

She provides strategic counseling to domestic and multinational companies on all matters related to managing employment relationships, especially related to reorganizations, issue identification and problem solving of employment related matters, contract and policy drafting, outsourcing transactions, multijurisdictional projects and due diligence processes.

Practice Focus

Maria José's practice is focused on areas such as contract and policy drafting, outsourcing transactions, multi jurisdictional projects, due diligence processes, reorganizations and labor investigation processes. She also has significant experience on negotiations with works councils, trade unions, and public authorities, and often represents clients in all types of employment and labor cases before the Labor Inspection, Labor Courts, High Courts of Justice and the Supreme Court.

In addition to her practice, she collaborates with newspapers and specialized law magazines. Likewise, she gives classes at the University Carlos III in Madrid and is a regular speaker in several courses and presentations.

  • Assisting a luxury retail entity with closing a line of business and the restructuring of its workforce.
