Biography

Eliza MacLachlan is an associate in the Dispute Resolution team based in London. Eliza has experience acting for parties on a range of commercial litigation, investigations and international arbitration, with a particular focus on civil fraud. Eliza is a member of the Risk, Investigations, Compliance and Ethics group, and the Business Crime Unit, based in London.

Eliza joined Baker McKenzie as a trainee solicitor and qualified into the Dispute Resolution department in September 2025. During her training contract, Eliza was seconded to the South African Dispute Resolution department in the Baker McKenzie Johannesburg office. During her secondment, Eliza assisted an international arbitration.

Eliza works on a number of pro bono matters, including successfully challenging an INTERPOL Red Notice.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Acting for an international bank as one of the defendants to claims brought by the administrators of a collapsed private healthcare fund both before the High Court of England and Wales and ADGM in a multibillion-dollar claim. The claims relate to a massive alleged fraud which is said to have resulted in the collapse of the group.
  • Supporting a number of investigations concerning workplace culture for a multinational consumer-facing organisation.
  • Acting for an employer in defence of Tribunal proceedings with complex discrimination claims brought by multiple claimants.

Corporate Responsibility

  • Acted on a successful INTERPOL Red Notice challenge.
  • Assisting an individual following long-running claims of defamation and harassment brought by her ex-husband.
