Biography
Carolin Insel is senior associate in the EMEA + Customs Practice at Baker McKenzie Düsseldorf, Germany. Carolin is a former German Customs Officer and studied at the German Customs University of Applied Science (Fachhochschule des Bundes, Fachbereich Steuern). She left the German Customs Authorities in 2015 and first gathered experience in a mid-sized consultancy firm specialized on advice in the field of cross-border trade of goods. Before joining Baker in October 2023 she worked for nearly six years at one of the Big4. Carolin also passed the exam as German Tax Advisor.
Practice Focus
With more than 10 years experience, she has extensive knowledge in customs, customs tariff classification and excise duty projects for global players particularly in the technology, chemical, pharmaceutical and automotive sectors as well as for mid-sized companies advising both national and international on customs and excise-duty related matters.
