Biography

Lukáš Hoder is a senior associate and a member of the Dispute Resolution Practice Group of the Prague office.

Practice Focus

Lukáš has represented clients in court proceedings before all instances of courts in the Czech Republic, including the Constitutional Court, as well as international courts (Court of Justice of the European Union). He has also represented clients in a number of arbitrations (e.g., under the procedural rules of UNCITRAL, VIAC, ICAC, ICC, ICSID, and the Arbitration Court in Prague), including sports arbitrations before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Lukáš also provides legal advice on the Foreign Investment Screening Act (FDI) and insolvency and regulatory matters.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advising the liquidator and insolvency trustee of Sberbank CZ, a.s. v likvidaci, JUDr. Jiřina Lužová, appointed by the Czech National Bank, the Czech banking regulator, on dispute resolution matters.
  • Advising JUDr. Jiřina Lužová, the insolvency trustee of WPB Capital, a savings and credit union, during the insolvency of WPB Capital, on dispute resolution matters.
  • Representing multiple clients in labor-law disputes.
  • Representing international financial service providers in five court disputes relating to investments in contracts for difference.
  • Providing comprehensive advice to a Czech ministry on court disputes, contract law matters, public procurement and regulatory issues.
  • Representing a Czech city in several court disputes arising from contracts for construction work.
  • Advising a Czech engineering company in a dispute against a Ukrainian customer, providing advice in arbitration proceedings (ICAC) and on the enforcement of an arbitration award. 
  • Representing a Czech group of companies in proceedings before the Constitutional Court with respect to tax law issues.
  • Representing a major engineering company in international arbitration (VIAC).
  • Advising one of the largest global manufacturers of electronics on filing an application for approval/consultation under the Foreign Investment Screening Act in the Czech Republic and Austria. 
  • Representing an international company in two arbitration proceedings before the Arbitration Court in Prague with respect to lease agreements.
  • Representing a Czech theater before the Arbitration Court in Prague with a claim for an apology, prevention of unfair competition and compensation for damage; providing related advice on trademarks, including proceedings before the Industrial Property Office.
