Biography
Evan Harris is a senior associate in Baker McKenzie's North America Antitrust & Competition Practice Group, based in the Washington, DC office.
Evan represents multinational clients before the United States Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission as well as state and foreign competition authorities related to high-stakes, complex transactions. Evan's deep experience includes representations in some of the most notable litigated merger challenges of the past decade.
Prior to joining the firm, Evan worked as an associate for an international law firm where he advised clients in matters involving merger and acquisition enforcement and antitrust litigation.
Practice Focus
Evan's practice focuses on advising clients during all phases of merger considerations and the merger review process, including merger control filings, regulatory advocacy and strategy, and integration planning. He also advises clients regarding complex litigation, strategic counselling to manage antitrust risk, antitrust compliance, internal investigations, and criminal investigations.
Evan represents clients in a wide range of industries including technology, telecommunications, food and beverage, healthcare, agriculture, energy, and transportation, among others.
Representative Legal Matters
Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Evan Harris worked on the following matters:
- Advised a national telecommunications client on a landmark USD 59 billion merger, one of the largest telecommunications deals in history.
- Advised a semiconductor and software design company and multinational investment holding company during the merger review process for a purchase and sale agreement valued at USD 40 billion.
- Counselled a leading health insurance company in its proposed acquisition valued of USD 50 billion.
- Represented an advertising technology company in federal court to defend against the FTC's challenge to its proposed acquisition.
- Advised one of the world's largest premium fruit-breeding companies in its successful acquisition of a leading American fruit-breeding company.
- Represented a leading financial institution during multidistrict antitrust litigation pertaining to payment card fees.
- Advised an American global logistics and transportation company in its acquisition of part of a Jones Act container shipping and integrated logistics company for approximately USD 140 million.
- Advised a leading global food company on a complex multidistrict antitrust proceeding involving allegations of price fixing. The matter was shortlisted for "Litigation of the Year – Cartel Defense" in 2015.
