Miguel Angel Estrada Landero
Biography
Miguel is a junior associate in the Tax Practice Group of Baker McKenzie office in Monterrey. He joined Baker McKenzie in 2020 as an intern/law clerk and was promoted to junior associate in July 2023. He has more than 3 years of experience in tax and general administrative litigation.
Before joining the Firm, Miguel was an in-house law clerk at a Real-State group, in Cancun, Mexico.
Miguel obtained his law degree (J.D. equivalent) and a minor in Finance with merit (summa cum laude) after obtaining the second highest GPA of his class.
Practice Focus
Miguel focuses his practice on tax, administrative and constitutional litigation matters and disputes, he has participated in the defense of taxpayers against unconstitutional tax laws, as well as against the actions of the authorities in the exercise of their review and enforcement powers.
He has also supported clients in dealing with the authorities, in compliance with their tax obligations and tax refund requests and, where applicable, in tax and administrative litigation, among other things. He has provided professional services to national and multinational entities, consolidated groups, companies that are part of the manufacturing sector, companies in the energy sector, etc.

Assisted in the elaboration of legal defense strategies for clients that have been imposed tax assessments or administrative procedures.

Participated in conclusive agreements procedures before the Tax Ombudsman.

Participated in the defense of companies against the enforcement of unconstitutional tax and administrative laws.

Participated in the legal defense of the companies that are part of the Energy and Petroleum sector against some activities carried out by several administrative authorities (i.e. SENER, CRE, ASEA, among others).
