Biography

Bithika is a senior associate in Baker McKenzie's Energy & Infrastructure Group based in London. Bithika joined Baker McKenzie in 2012 and completed her training contract and qualified as an associate in the Energy & Infrastructure Group in September 2014.

Practice Focus

Bithika advises on the development of large-scale projects across the energy and infrastructure sectors with a particular focus on energy transition projects. Bithika’s experience spans commercial contracts, construction contracts, joint ventures and M&A transactions. She brings extensive cross-border experience having worked on numerous projects throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Bithika has completed secondments to the in-house legal team at the Rio Tinto London office and to the in-house Generation Legal team at EDF Energy.

Representative Legal Matters

  • An investor on the development of a world scale CCS project in the Middle East.
  • Developers on the contractual arrangements for the development of a carbon capture and storage hub in Latin America and Europe, respectively.
  • Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden) in relation to Alcoa's disposition of its interest in the rolling business of the joint venture between Ma'aden and Alcoa for a fully integrated aluminium complex in Saudi Arabia, including the renegotiation of the shareholder and project agreements.
  • Sound Energy Plc on various aspects of the acquisition and development of its upstream gas assets in Morocco including (1) its farm-in relating to the Oil & Gas Investment Fund's assets; and (2) its synthetic farm-out with Schlumberger.
  • Counterparties to LNG sale and purchase agreements, including in the context of greenfield project development and portfolio LNG supply arrangements.
  • Project owners and contractors on various contractual arrangements including EPC & FIDIC contracts, EPCM contracts, technical services/ consultancy agreements, offtake and supply contracts, container and LNG terminal services agreements, BOT arrangements and joint venture arrangements.
  • A range of clients on various construction, redevelopment, extensions and refurbishments matters in the UK.

Corporate Responsibility

  • Advising the London Symphony Orchestra on various matters.
  • Volunteered at the University House Legal Advice Centre in Bethnal Green, London.
