Biography

Vin leads our London and Chair’s our EMEA Data & Cyber Practice. Recognised and considered to be a 'long-standing recognized leader in data privacy and regulatory matters from pre-GDPR to the present day, arguably making him the go-to person.’ If you need support on a strategically important, critical data advisory or cyber/ incident, Vin is the advisor you need to support the crisis and help navigate the challenges, for example to provide creative solutions on data risk.

Practice Focus

Vin frequently leads advisory teams across global matters alongside our global Data & Cyber practice leaders. Vin has advised on various data security incidents, including hacking, unlawful data acquisition, ransomware attacks, accidental data loss and digital asset mismanagement, and employee data/insider threat actors. Vin guides investigations, manages breaches with forensic consultants, PR advisors, and insurers, and advises on potential regulatory action and litigation risk . Vin also works proactively with clients on breach preparation, data legal risk management, the complexity of GDPR and other data advisory issues that business face in today’s world of data driven economies.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advising a global bank on improvements to its data risk and governance, data exports and transfers strategy, as well as cyber readiness and incident response processes and policies.
  • Advising a global Tech business on data transfer risk and a strategy for data flows solutions across the EU, UK, Asia and US based tech stacks and process infrastructure.
  • Lead advisor to SnapChat and successfully defending against the ICO's ground breaking enforcement action on Snap’s use of GenAI and AI Chatbot.
  • Advising a UK headquartered company on the theft of data and subsequent ransomware attack, coordinating the entire incident response, working with UK cybercrime police and advising on potential disputes with third parties.
  • Advising a leading AI developer on regulatory enforcement strategy, defence and data subject litigation risk.
  • Advised a global multi-billion dollar listed business on its cyber incident preparedness across multiple regions.
  • Advising the UK Cabinet Office on the UK's Cyber Security Strategy (2016 - 2019).
