Baker McKenzie plans to relocate its Amsterdam office to The Canyon, part of The Harmony project on the Zuidas. The move is scheduled for April 2030. The global law firm has signed a lease with real estate developer Zadelhoff.
With the new location, Baker McKenzie is opting for a future-ready work environment centered on collaboration and connection. The choice of the building was driven in part by the project’s ambitious sustainability goals, as well as its central location and excellent transport connections on the Zuidas. The office building is being developed with the aim of achieving BREEAM Excellent certification, with a focus on energy-efficient solutions and responsible material choices that help reduce its environmental footprint.
Investment in the Amsterdam team
Kim Tan, Managing Partner of Baker McKenzie Amsterdam, said: “While it is meaningful to say goodbye to Baker House, where we have been based since 2006, this new workplace is better aligned with the way we work today and how we continue to evolve as a firm. We see it as an investment in our Amsterdam team. It will be a place where colleagues can come together easily and where we can welcome clients in a setting that reflects who we are.”
With the move, Baker McKenzie builds on more than 50 years of presence in the Netherlands. The new office will include an auditorium for client meetings and internal events, modern building technology, and a focus on well-being, including integrated greenery.
Development in the heart of the Zuidas
The choice of The Harmony followed a competitive selection process. The project stands out for its architecture, well-designed public spaces, and clear long-term vision. The Harmony is a mixed-use development of approximately 35,000 square meters on the Zuidas, comprising two buildings, The Canyon and The Coast, with a mix of offices, residences, and amenities.
The development is located in the Ravel district, one of the newest areas of the Zuidas. The neighborhood has been designed with strong attention to pedestrians and the quality of public spaces. Landscaping is an integral part of the design, from interior gardens to façades and rooftops, developed in collaboration with a landscape architect and ecologist.
