Baker McKenzie is pleased to announce the appointment of Dean Gerakiteys as a Partner in the Firm’s Intellectual Property practice in Sydney.  Dean joins from Clayton Utz where he was a partner in its national IP litigation team and brings a team, comprising two senior associates - Grace Griffiths and Antonia Wayne-Boyle (also from Clayton Utz).

Dean is a highly regarded litigator with deep experience across the full spectrum of intellectual property disputes, including trademarks, copyright, patents, confidential information, trade secrets and domain names. He has acted for major Australian and multinational clients at every stage of the litigation lifecycle, including in the High Court of Australia. His track record includes successful appearances in several landmark High Court matters.

In addition to his litigation expertise, Dean regularly advises on advertising, consumer law, and the complex regulatory framework governing the listing, marketing and supply of therapeutic goods. He has extensive experience engaging with regulators and managing large intellectual property portfolios for globally recognized brands.

Dean joins Baker McKenzie after a distinguished 14-year career at Clayton Utz, where he progressed from senior lawyer to partner and served as trusted counsel to major clients in the pharmaceutical, technology, consumer goods, alcohol, education, food and beverage, and media sectors. He is recognized in Chambers, Legal500, WTR1000, Managing IP IP Stars, and Doyle’s Guide for his expertise across IP and TMT.

Dean holds an LL.B (Hons) and University Medal from the University of Technology Sydney and was admitted as a solicitor in 2010.
