Baker McKenzie has received top honors at the prestigious JUVE Awards 2025, winning Law Firm of the Year 2025 and Law Firm of the Year for Compliance. The award ceremony took place on October 30 at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, recognizing the firm’s outstanding performance and strategic leadership in the German legal market.

JUVE praised Baker McKenzie’s dynamic growth and cross-border capabilities, stating: "Baker McKenzie is in the fast lane. With Alexander Wolff at the helm, it is focusing single-mindedly on cross-border mandates and internal networking across specializations. Its track record in advising on international restructurings and carve-outs led from Germany is impressive." JUVE called out the M&A practice, which is led by Christian Atzler and Berthold Hummel highlights how the integration across borders works. As an example, the publisher cites the advice provided to JD.com on the announced public takeover of Ceconomy.

Dr. Alexander Wolff, Managing Partner of Baker McKenzie Germany, commented:
"These awards are a special recognition of the performance of our entire team and the trust our clients place in us. They affirm our strategy of combining global excellence with strong local roots and our commitment to continuously strengthening our market position."

JUVE also recognized the firm’s deep expertise and client relationships in the Compliance category: I "Nicolai Behr's team has long impressed with its outstanding technical knowledge and strong connections with clients’ legal and compliance departments. The team has also made impressive strides in board advisory.” Internationally, their reputation in internal investigations continues to grow. The practice’s strength lies in its interdisciplinary approach, with Anika Schürmann covering criminal law issues and Anahita Thoms leading on foreign trade law and geopolitical risk.

Dr. Nicolai Behr, Co-Head of the Investigations, Compliance and Ethics Practice in Germany, said:

"Being honored again after our 2021 win is a proud moment. This is an appreciation of our successful, cross-practice teamwork and the trust-based partnerships with our clients."

Anahita Thoms, Co-Chair of our Global Crisis Management and Strategic Response Group and member of the EMEA Steering Committee for Investigations, Compliance & Ethics, said:

"Receiving this award again is a special honor. In a globally networked and increasingly complex world, in which geopolitical risks have become a key strategic issue for supervisory boards and management boards of international companies, our aim is to support clients in identifying risks at an early stage and to develop effective strategies together."

Dr. Anika Schürmann, Co-Head of the Investigations, Compliance and Ethics Practice in Germany, added:

"Our aim is not only to help our clients get ahead of compliance risks , but also to support them when crises arise. The award confirms that we are on the right track with our interdisciplinary approach and the close integration of compliance, internal investigations and criminal defense."
