Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie announced today that Carole Turcotte has joined the Firm’s Toronto office as a Partner in its Transactional Practice. Carole brings a wealth of experience in complex corporate, capital markets and fund related matters, further strengthening Baker McKenzie’s capabilities in Canada and across the globe.

Carole is a seasoned legal professional, fluent in both English and French, with a distinguished career advising on securities regulatory matters and the structuring and negotiating of mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, operational agreements, fund formation, offerings and portfolio investments, both domestically and internationally. Her expertise spans several sectors, including the natural resources and mining sector, where she advises companies throughout all phases of their operations. Carole’s background also includes senior roles at leading law firms and asset management and financial institutions, where she provided legal counsel on strategic transactions across multiple asset classes and jurisdictions.

“We are thrilled to welcome Carole to Baker McKenzie,” said Alan Zoccolillo, Americas Chair of the Firm’s Transactional Practice Group. “Her deep knowledge of investment transactions and fund work, combined with her bilingual capabilities, will be invaluable as we continue to expand our Transactional practice and serve our clients’ evolving needs across Canada.”

Her collaborative approach and proven track record in complex investment matters will help us deliver exceptional value to our clients and foster new opportunities for growth.”

A transactional powerhouse with more than 2,500 deal practitioners in more than 40 jurisdictions, Baker McKenzie offers pragmatic counsel in the areas most critical for business and unmatched experience leading complex cross-border transactions. The team in Canada boasts deep cross-border experience, having advised clients across the globe on M&A, corporate reorganizations and restructurings, and takeover bids. The team’s strength lies in its ability to combine deep knowledge of Canadian federal, provincial and local laws with an international perspective, working closely with colleagues across the Americas, Europe and Asia to stay abreast of the regulatory, investment and trade trends in those regions and to help clients achieve their domestic and international business objectives.

Carole's hire continues the expansion of Baker McKenzie's global transactional team. She follows the recent arrivals of Tom Oslovar in Palo Alto, Jenny Liu in New York and Palo Alto, Helen Johnson, Mark Thompson, Nick Benson, Kevin Heverin, James Wyatt and Michal Berkner in London; Jan Schubert in Frankfurt; Todd Beauchamp and Charles Weinstein in Washington, DC; Dan Ouyang, Winfield Lau, and Ke (Ronnie) Li in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong; and Alexander Stathopoulos in Singapore.

“I’m thrilled to join Baker McKenzie’s transactional team and collaborate with colleagues across the Firm’s global platform,” said Carole. “It’s energizing to be part of such a dynamic and forward-thinking practice, and I look forward to helping clients navigate complex corporate and fund-related matters while contributing to the Firm’s continued growth in both the Canadian and international markets.”
