AI-enabled insights

Our Employment and Compensation Practice Group worked closely with the Applied AI team to develop a customized GenAI tool, demonstrating how we innovate to add value for our clients.
The award-winning tool produces draft advice in response to specific, routine queries across 45 jurisdictions and was adapted based on the in-house team's preferences.
The team optimized quality, speed, and efficiency to better capture the value of previous work. It won the Client Management Innovation Award at the Legal Innovation & Technology Awards in 2024.
Faster cybersecurity incident response through AI

We manage several global cyber incident responses for many companies, which includes advising on mandatory notifications to data protection authorities and affected customers.
We explored how we could optimize the speed and efficiency of service delivery by leveraging recent AI advances.
Our team worked closely with our Data, Technology, Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice to develop and pilot customized GenAI workflows to enhance the Firm's incident response expertise. Tested with clients using live incidents in the US affecting all 50 states, the tool reduced the time taken to determine mandatory notification requirements for certain types of incidents from over 30 hours to just a few minutes.
The pilot's success led to expanding this approach to other key jurisdictions, which is expected to drive similar industry-leading speed and efficiency gains. This has transformed the quality of the service by enabling a more proactive incident response.
Technology-enabled merger control for Hitachi's landmark deal

Hitachi's USD 11 billion acquisition of ABB's power grids business required swift regulatory clearance across over 100 jurisdictions.
We used the Global Merger Analysis Platform for a rapid, multijurisdictional risk assessment. Combining an economic analysis with local competition law expertise, we prioritized markets and prepared precise filings.
This approach enabled 19 merger control filings to reach unconditional clearance; it concluded in weeks and saved significant counsel fees.
L'Oréal: Legal design to optimize resourcing

The in-house team at L'Oréal was looking at ways to maximize lawyers' time to focus on higher-value work. This would allow the client to have more autonomy when contracting with suppliers and other third parties.
We worked closely with L'Oréal to refresh its existing guidance on contracts to make it more accessible and user friendly. The previous document was too long, hard to follow and full of legal language that made it difficult to understand. We conducted interviews with business users and then applied legal design theory to create a new document that simplified and streamlined the content to make it more accessible. This provided the business with more autonomy.
