Biography

Jose Javier G. Vilchez is an associate in Quisumbing Torres’ Corporate and Transactional Practice Group.

Prior to joining the firm, Javier served as the International Affairs Officer of the Philippine Competition Commission, where he conducted merger reviews, represented the Philippines in free trade agreements with international bodies, provided technical guidance on pending legislation, liaised with antitrust authorities of various nations, and advised high-level government officials on competition law and policy. He previously worked for the Commission on Human Rights and was a columnist for a national newspaper.

Javier obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of the Philippines College of Law in 2024, where he was a Dean’s Lister. He was a winner of the prestigious Foundation for Liberty and Prosperity Award for his thesis on the interplay of antitrust and political law. He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2025.

Practice Focus

Javier’s practice focuses on M&A transactions, corporate counselling and governance for private companies, and global equity services. He has experience in drafting and reviewing complex commercial agreements and advising multinational and domestic clients on strategic investments and corporate structuring. His background includes antitrust and competition, as well as cross-border engagements with international organizations and regulators, giving him a multidisciplinary perspective on regulatory compliance and transactional risk.
