Alex Tam
Biography
Alex is an associate in Baker McKenzie's Corporate Energy and Infrastructure department in London. Since joining the firm as a trainee solicitor in 2021 and qualifying as an associate in September 2023, Alex's practice has covered a broad range of M&A and projects work, encompassing both traditional as well as energy transition matters such as renewable energy projects, sustainable energy procurement and carbon finance.
During his training, he completed a six-month secondment with the Energy, Resources, Infrastructure and Corporate department in Baker McKenzie's Sydney office.
Representative Legal Matters
- Advised Zijin on its USD 1.2 billion acquisition of the “RG Gold” Raygorodok gold mine and processing business in Kazakhstan from Verny Capital and RCF.
- Advised Gunvor on its investment into a joint venture with Quercus to fund the development of solar assets in Europe.
- Advised Gruppo Statuto in relation to the acquisition of the Six Senses London hotel from The Whiteley.
- Advising a mining company on its restructuring of its joint venture arrangements in respect of multiple mines.
- Advising a global leading industrial gas company on the development of an innovative terminal use agreement for a green ammonia import terminal in Europe.
- Advised Virgin Media O2 on a 10-year wind power purchase agreement with The Renewables Infrastructure Group.
- Advised a global bank on its UK long term power purchase arrangements.
- Advised a consortium of funders on a bespoke carbon streaming funding facility in respect of a carbon emission reduction project in Africa.
- Advised Terra Natural Capital on its financing of its deal with Climate Impact Partners in respect of a carbon emission reduction project in India.
- Advised a luxury fashion house on the structuring of forward purchase emission reduction purchase agreements involving multiple parties.
