Biography
María Luisa Santacruz graduated from Universidad de los Andes with more than four years of experience at international law firms, advising domestic and multinational clients on intellectual property, technology, advertising, consumer protection, and data protection matters. She earned an LL.M. in Law of Technology and Automated Systems from Università Bocconi (Milan) and has published articles on artificial intelligence, advertising and copyright law.

María Luisa's practice focuses on intellectual property and technology law, with an emphasis on trademark protection and portfolio management, copyright, advertising, consumer protection and data protection. She advises companies across a wide range of industries on developing and implementing strategies to protect intangible assets, as well as on legal matters involving emerging technologies in Colombia, Latin America and other jurisdictions.

- Advised a multinational food and beverage company on the review of advertising campaigns for an international football tournament, ensuring compliance with advertising and consumer protection regulations across multiple Latin American jurisdictions.
- Supported the legal strategy in an unfair competition investigation involving a company in the sports industry, assisting with the collection and analysis of evidence to establish bad faith conduct by a competitor.
- Coordinated an international trademark protection project for a major audiovisual production, managing the registration of new trademarks in 187 jurisdictions through the Madrid System.
- Implemented customs enforcement strategies for multinational companies in the technology, fashion, and sports sectors, including customs training programs, border detention applications, and intellectual property enforcement actions in Colombia.
- Structured the intellectual property ownership strategy for a Chinese company in connection with a work-made-for-hire agreement relating to an infrastructure project in Colombia
