Biography

Sibel Owji is a member of the Firm’s Tax Group based in Palo Alto. She has a diverse and broad legal and professional experience and has practiced for nearly three decades.

Before joining Baker McKenzie, she was a partner, the Chair of International Tax Practice and the Vice Chair of Tax Practice at a major global law firm.

She also worked for a Big Four accounting firm concentrating on international tax, cross border operational and business aspects and complex tax and supply chain structuring projects as a member of the Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices as well as the Washington National Tax Group in Washington DC.

Practice Focus

Sibel advises multinational companies on a broad range of cross-border matters. She focuses her practice on corporate international tax, operational, legal, and business advisory, multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary sophisticated structuring based on a holistic approach with a strategic focus on business and commercial aspects, global transfer pricing strategy and documentation, international tax controversy, cross-border acquisitions, dispositions and joint ventures, cross-border post-acquisition integration structuring, legal entity rationalization of global structures, tax treaty issues, repatriation planning, digital services tax matters, US taxation of foreign operations, supply chain planning and structuring, and advisory services regarding key US and global tax reform provisions.
