Biography

Alexis Muñoz is an associate in the Firm's Dispute Resolution practice in Santiago, advising multinational corporations and state entities on complex commercial litigation, international and domestic arbitration, and cross-border disputes. He graduated summa cum laude from Universidad de Chile Law School in 2022, and joined the Firm's Dispute Resolution Group in March 2025, having previously practiced dispute resolution at another leading Chilean firm.

Alexis has been a teaching assistant for private law at Universidad de Chile Law School since 2018, including civil law and private international law courses, and consistently contributes to dispute resolution publications. His practice and academic work focus on private law and dispute resolution.

Alexis is recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch 2026 (Chile), for Arbitration and Mediation. He is also a member of the Chilean Association of International Private Law.

Practice Focus

Alexis focuses on litigation and arbitration, with emphasis on civil, commercial, and construction matters. He has experience in contractual disputes involving energy, mining, and construction projects, ports, technology, insurance, international sales, consumer law, and regulated industries, advising both Chilean and international companies. He has acted in litigation before Chilean courts, as well as in domestic, international commercial, and investor-State arbitrations, seated in Chile and abroad.

  • Advised an international industrial maintenance company in a contractual dispute against its counterparty, in a domestic CAM arbitration seated in Chile.
  • Advised a British investor in an investment treaty arbitration under ICSID rules against a Latin American state, in relation to the private health insurance sector.
  • Advised an international paper products company in collective antitrust litigation before the Chilean Competition Tribunal (TDLC).
  • Advised a Chilean mining company in tort litigation against a highway operator and its insurers.
  • Advised a transnational infrastructure company in a domestic dispute regarding extension of time and additional works for an energy construction project.
  • Advised a Chilean airport operator company in a construction CAM arbitration seated in Chile and related insurance arbitration and insolvency procedure of the contractor.
  • Advised a U.S. bottling company against a Chilean counterpart for contractual breach in international sales dispute, in a US seated international commercial arbitration.
  • Advised a Chilean company in a software dispute against a US software company for breach of contract, in a US seated international commercial arbitration.
  • Advised a Chilean port company in negotiations with its operator, regarding breaches of contract and contract modification.
