Biography
Zhe Xu is a local principal in the Financial Services Regulatory, FinTech and Insurance practice groups in Singapore. While currently focusing on financial and insurance regulatory matters, he also has substantial past experience in contentious matters, having begun his legal career as a litigation practitioner.
Practice Focus
Zhe Xu's practice covers a broad spectrum of financial services regulatory, insurance and various adjacent matters. Due to his experience in contentious work, he is also able to handle pre-dispute matters, as well as matters arising in the financial services context that require a sound grasp of general commercial law.

- Advised and supported a leading insurer in Singapore regarding various issues relating to corporate governance, internal restructuring, and the raising of capital from shareholders.
- Advised and supported the preparation of distribution agreements between leading insurers in Singapore and various product distributors.
- Advised various insurers on matters relating to cross-border marketing and distribution of insurance policies.
- Advised and supported the financial regulatory aspects of various M&A transactions involving regulated entities, including insurers, insurance intermediaries, and fund managers.
- Assisted and supported various fund managers on their license applications to the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
- Provided advice to various fund managers and roboadvisors on matters relating to the offering of investment products in Singapore.
- Advised and supported various banks and fund managers in Singapore on regulatory aspects of internal investigations arising out of alleged employee misconduct and associated regulatory reporting requirements.
- Advised various financial institutions on sanctions-related issues.
- Assisted in Project Guardian, a collaborative initiative between policymakers and the financial industry to enhance liquidity and efficiency of financial markets through asset tokenisation.
