Biography

Frank Kroes is a partner in Baker McKenzie’s Amsterdam office and a leading commercial disputes lawyer with more than 30 years of experience. He represents clients in high-stakes litigation and arbitration, with a focus on complex matters at the intersection of corporate liability, competition law, class actions and ESG-related disputes.

Clients rely on Frank for his strategic judgment and pragmatic approach in cases where legal, regulatory and commercial considerations converge. He regularly appears before courts at all levels in the Netherlands, including the Supreme Court, and has extensive experience acting in proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Union. In addition, represents clients in international arbitration under, among others, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI) rules.

Frank has broad sector experience, including in the energy, construction, chemicals, technology and financial services industries. He is frequently brought in on matters involving follow-on damages claims, governance disputes and large-scale cross-border litigation.

Alongside his practice, Frank serves as Deputy Justice at the Court of Appeal of ’s-Hertogenbosch. He is also a board member of the Dutch Bar Association and a CEDR-accredited mediator. He sits as an arbitrator from time to time.

Practice Focus

Frank has registered Supreme Court Litigation (cassatie, civiel) in the Netherlands Bar’s Register of Legal Practice Areas (rechtsgebiedenregister) as a principal (and secondary) legal practice area. Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
